We were able to travel from Budapest to Vienna by bus with the Grand Circle group doing the Vienna extension so we did not have to hassle with the train. Once in Vienna we stayed at a Novotel hotel for a night before embarking the River Countess to begin the Uniworld Eastern European Explorer trip.
We were able to tour in Vienna on our own for two days. It, too, is a beautiful city full of interesting buildings, churches, monuments, and restaurants. We used the subway system to get around and had no difficulty finding anything we wanted to see.
