Basel Munster church, one of the main landmarks of the Swiss city of Basel, where we began our cruise on the Rhine and Mosel rivers. Originally a Catholic cathedral, it is now a Reformed Protestant church.

Bronze model

A hexagram, which is a six-pointed star figure is used in many historical, religious, and cultural contexts, not just as a Jewish symbol.

Beautiful tile roof

Our first stop after leaving Basel was Strasbourg, France where we were able to see and tour in the Strasbourg Cathedral, a monument to Gothic architecture. One could spend weeks just examining the exterior and still never see all of the carvings!

The spa town of Baden Baden, Germany provided another of those "Wow" moments. The small church below was next to a large spa complex where we stopped for a bathroom break. While waiting around for everyone, one of our travelers decided to see what was inside of this very plain looking church. His curiosity led to the discovery of the stunning, quite modern stained glass windows below.
