January 1: Rose Parade Day!

Up at 4:00 to leave for the parade route at 4:45. Wear most of the clothes you own because it is cold in Pasadena before dawn. It does warm up some after the sun rises. We arrived at the bus parking lot early (so we would be one of the first out after the Parade) and stayed on the warm bus until 7. Then we walked 2-3 blocks to our grandstand seats and settled in to await the 8 AM beginning.

(I have chosen to present a photo of each of the floats - as they passed by our seats. You may always scroll quickly through these and go to the next page.)

I-210 is closed to traffic and they stage the horse units down there. Later a street sweeper made numerous passes along the highway to try to clean it up before being reopened to traffic.
