The church complex is very complex! Six denominations (including Greek, Roman, Armenian and Coptic churches) argue about owning the site, each controlling different parts and conduct services regularly. An Ottoman leader a long time ago decided he had heard enough bickering and gave the keys to the Church to two Moslem families who open and lock up the church to this day. We entered and looked at the stone where Jesus was supposedly washed. There is a large mosaic on the back wall. We joined the crowd to go up steps to the chapel where the crucifixion supposedly occurred. We went around to the tomb where Jesus was supposedly buried and from which he was to have been resurrected. We walked through the Coptic section and then the Armenian section of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
