Trips

Sat.-Mon. - 2/11-15/23 - Athens

Sat., 2/11/23 - Jericho to Athens
Our cab came at 1:15 AM and drove us to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. On the way we passed a huge accident on the other side of our highway and our taxi was buzzed three times by three cars drag racing on our side of the highway. Thankfully, our driver became very cautious of the traffic.

Our flight on Aegean Airlines departed at 5:50 AM. It was a two hour flight to Athens and they served us coffee, a humus and tomato sandwich, and a candy bar. Athens airport was empty. We were the only ones at the non-EU passport control and there was no customs check. We had coffee and sweet rolls while waiting for Welcome Persons hotel shuttle to take us to the Hera Hotel near the Acropolis. We waited and hour in the lobby for an early check-in to our junior suite. It was a nice room.

After a nap we walked to find our meeting place for Monday’s Viator tour to Delphi and walked in the Plaka. It is off season - not many tourists, some shops are closed, and it is rather cold in Athens at this time of year. There is snow on top of the surrounding mountains.

Below are photos of the first several days in Athens.
